OK so today I'm going to talk about the Pixies album Sufer Rosa. Surfer Rosa is probably one of the best things you will hear in alt rock. This is an ageless masterpiece that belongs in everyone's record collection. The first track on the album is this AWESOME song called Bone Machine and I have no idea what it's about Then you hear the like super apocalyptic rocker called Break My Body which is like one of the best songs on there. But THEN you hear this awesome like one minute forty five second growling master work of hardcore angst called Something Against You you also get Broken Face which is also in the same hardcore punk vein. THEN you get this beautiful love song sung by the bassist Kim Deal and the melodic minimalism of the next track Where Is My Mind?. And after that you get the hyperactive rocker Oh My Golly and the Spanish freak out Vamos. You then get some more Pixies greatness with I'm Amazed and Tony's Theme and the Album closes with the divine guitar melodies of Brick Is Red. So there you have it. The best alt rock album of all time and I give a ten out of ten. Essential.

OK so today I'm going to talk about the DNA album/comp DNA On DNA. This is one of those records that sounds like nothing you've ever heard before but at the same time sounds like it's incorporating every genre that you've ever heard. It pretty much gathers some B-sides and all the tracks from the No New York comp that was produced by Brian Eno as well as some other tracks from stray 7 inches and such. This album pretty much sums up the entire No Wave movement that gripped New York in the mid 70's. The music incorporates Dub,Free Jazz,Noise and other genres that are completely reinvented from scratch that make one of the most compelling and rewarding listens in the music universe.

OK so today I'm going to write about the Nirvana album Live At Reading. Live At Reading in my opinion is the best Nirvana album EVER for multiple reasons. For one thing it has some really good songs from Bleach made better from the Explosive drumming of the great Dave Grohl who did not play on the Bleach record which made the album considerably less powerful. It also had Nirvana at the height of it's powers as shown on the version of Lithium which has the audience singing along in a super burst of awesomeness. Probably one of my Favorite songs on the album is the cover of the Fang song The Money Will Roll Right In. So this is one of the greatest live albums of all time and if you like Nirvana it's an essential purchase.

OK so today I'm going to write about Proto Punk. Proto Punk and Garage Rock was a music movement in the sixties that pretty much started punk rock with bands like MC5 and The Music Machine and The Stooges. Proto Punk really does not have a certain style of music but it is classified as influencing later punk bands such as the Clash and The Sex Pistols. A really good example of Proto Punk is The Music Machine song "Talk Talk". Proto Punk is super awesome in many ways so you should like totally check it out.
